Pre-existing Medical Conditions
Many of our customers have pre-existing medical conditions (these are medical conditions from which travellers suffer before insurance is purchased).
Plus Insurance travel insurance excludes cover for certain pre-existing medical conditions. However, we provide a medical screening service as part of the customer journey for those wishing to establish whether additional cover can be provided for known medical conditions.
You must complete the online medical screening process which is part of your online insurance purchase journey. This process allows us to assess your Medical Conditions and allows us to confirm whether or not cover is available for the conditions. An additional premium may be payable. Failure to complete the online medical screening process or providing an incomplete or inaccurate declaration may invalidate any claim.
The policy exclusion relating to known medical conditions is not limited to named insured persons travelling under the policy, but also extends to include non-travelling persons upon whom the trip depends such as close relatives.
Insurers define a Pre-existing Medical Condition as:
Any cancer, heart condition (including hypertension and high cholesterol), blood circulatory condition, respiratory condition (including asthma), renal condition (relating to the liver or kidney), stroke, psychiatric or psychological condition (including anxiety, stress and depression) for which you have received treatment or been prescribed medication within the last twelve months. Any other medical condition for which you have seen a specialist or been admitted to hospital overnight within the last twelve months. Please see the medical warranty section on pages 3 to 4 of the policy wording for full details and conditions.
